Introducing Stewart Fraser

Our new feature allows you to get to know the team behind the scenes at Banks o' Dee FC. Keep an eye out on the website and on social media for future updates.

NAME: Stewart Fraser

AGE: 62

ROLE AT DEE: Jack of all trades, if they ask me to help I will have a go.

WHAT DOES YOUR JOB ENTAIL: Like I said, nothing is too much.

I help prepare the stadium and pitch on match days, from fixing the nets, to placing corner flags, the wee things that need to be done if games are to be played.

I also help tidy the stadium etc after games and I’m on hand to help with whatever is required.

WHEN DID YOU JOIN THE DEE: I first saw Dee playing when I was just five years old, so I suppose you could say I joined the club 57 years ago.

I fell in love with the club from the first day and was delighted when I was eventually invited to help behind the scenes.

WHY ARE YOU HAPPY TO HELP THE CLUB: Because it is a labour of love, watching Dee play is the highlight of my week.

MOST MEMORABLE DEE GAME: There are far too many to choose just one.

FAVOURITE DEE PLAYER AND WHY (ALL TIME): Pat Burns, because he was the best centre-half to turn out for the Dee.

I also have to praise Gordon Christie, who was a great player and also a really good coach, he used to coach me when I was a small boy. It’s really pleasing that I’m now working alongside him at the club.

FAVOURITE DEE PLAYER AND WHY (CURRENT SQUAD): I’m not answering that one, they are all great players because they have taken Dee to a level they had never been at before.

SPORTING HERO AS A CHILD: Charlie Barbour, he was one of the best players to come from this part of Scotland.

IS THERE A FOOTBALL HISTORY IN YOUR FAMILY: My father, Alex, was a well known amateur football referee. Like myself, he was born deaf but never allowed that to stand in the way of his ambitions to become a referee. He was a real inspiration.

ANY OTHER HOBBIES: I like a game of darts, otherwise it tends to be watching football live on the telly.

FAVOURITE SENIOR TEAM: None - Banks o’ Dee are the only team for me!

WHAT MUSIC IS ON YOUR PERSONAL PLAYER JUST NOW: Are you trying to take the p***! I’m deaf!

FAVOURITE MOVIE/TV SHOW: Football is about the only thing I watch on the telly.

FAVOURITE DRINK/PUB IN ABERDEEN: Pint of lager at my favourite Torry watering hole, The White Cockade.

FAVOURITE MEAL: Chicken Tikka.

FAVOURITE HOLIDAY VENUE: Greece.

AND FINALLY …. TELL US A SHORT JOKE: What do you call a Spanish streaker? Senor Willy.
